Newry & Mourne is the fourth most fishing-dependent
region in the UK, whilst its' agriculture is characterised
by low added-value and small uneconomic farms with
a predominance of beef and sheep farming. The region
is also heavily dependent on the micro-enterprise
sector.
The area contains two AONBs: the Mourne Mountains
and the Ring of Gullion, which are also designated
Environmentally Sensitive areas (ESAs).
